Plastic pollution is one of the greatest environmental challenges of our time, affecting our oceans, communities, and health. Every year, millions of plastic bottles are discarded improperly, clogging drains, polluting water bodies, and contributing to climate change. In Ghana, the situation is no different. The streets of Accra and other cities are often littered with PET plastic waste, creating an environmental crisis that demands urgent action.

At VerCitta, we believe that plastic waste is not just a problem—it is an opportunity. Our mission is simple: to recover PET waste, create sustainable jobs, and promote environmental sustainability. Through our innovative buyback program, we provide individuals, especially informal waste collectors, with a source of income by purchasing PET plastic waste from them. This initiative not only helps clean up our communities but also provides economic empowerment to hundreds of Ghanaians.

Our Impact So Far

Since our inception, we have made remarkable strides in transforming waste management in Ghana:

Why PET Recovery Matters

Plastic waste, particularly polyethylene terephthalate (PET), does not decompose easily. A single plastic bottle can take hundreds of years to break down, continuously polluting the environment. When left unmanaged, PET waste blocks drainage systems, leading to floods, or finds its way into the ocean, harming marine life.
